It's hard to believe that yet another Thanksgiving has come and gone. I feel exhausted and relieved that our house is our home again and we can return to some sort of normality after the wave of chaos that vibrated through our foundation for the past four days. We had 23 human bodies living within 4000 square feet with one bedroom and one bathroom per family unit. We consumed 32 lbs. of turkey, 20lbs. of potatoes, 7 pies, 2 9x13 pans of raspberry jello salad, 5 lbs of gravy, a green bean casserole and a small dish of sweet potatoes, 5 dozen rolls, a relish tray, 4 bags of tortilla chips 2 bags of ruffles, a small crock pot of artichoke dip and 20- 2 liter bottles in 48 hours. Yes, the amount of food we consumed was embarrassing and could have fed at least half of the starving children in Africa. We were able to have a new family portrait taken by my step-uncle which was a nice break from the gorging. Friday morning the ladies did some leisurely shopping and the guys did a little target practice and the older kids took a break to go and see a movie. By Saturday we were feeling a little bit of cabin fever and had to get out. We choose to wander around Costco and graze a little more on the food samples. It was a fantabulous weekend, as Tom would put it. We laughed, and chatted while the kids ran around like wild banchies and food was devoured as if we might not ever eat again. The important thing to remember is that we have so much to be thankful for; family, friends and don't forget FOOD!
